Original Artwork by Beth Inglish

Hope was originally created while I was teaching an art class on telling your story through art. I painted this 16 x 20 canvas as a reflection on resilience, movement, and the quiet strength that emerges when we keep creating through uncertainty.

That painting later became the foundation for a large-scale public art installation on 2nd Avenue Art Wall. The image was printed onto vinyl and installed across the glass windows of the AT&T Building as part of a curated exhibition featuring nine female artists. There was a public unveiling and ceremony celebrating women’s voices, creativity, and visibility in the city.

On December 24, 2020, the Nashville Christmas Day bombing occurred directly in front of the installation. The public artwork no longer exists.

What remains is this original painting — the source image that carried the message of Hope into public space.

This piece holds the full arc of that story: creation, amplification, loss, and endurance. It stands as a reminder that art outlives moments of destruction and that hope is not fragile — it is resilient.
