This piece comes from a really formative chapter in my career — the moment I shifted from oils to acrylics to mixed media and began experimenting with printing, collaging, and layering graphic imagery onto wood and canvas. I was inspired by wheatpasting, a street art technique where artists paste printed images onto walls, and I wanted to explore how that raw, urban feel could merge with my own expressive style.

This pink flower was one of my very first prototypes in that process. I printed the image, collaged it onto wood, and painted around it with acrylics to create movement, depth, and texture. That experimentation eventually shaped the mixed-media work I’m known for today.

I love how the bold lines contrast with the soft washes of color, how the flower feels both graphic and alive. It’s a piece that holds a lot of artistic history for me — a reminder of curiosity, exploration, and creative evolution.
