This piece is part of one of my most meaningful and collected series — the guitar headstock flag paintings I created when I first moved to Nashville. At that time, I was painting and songwriting daily, trying to merge the two things I loved most: music and art. These works became a visual anthem for that season of my life.

The background is hand-painted in expressive strokes, and each guitar headstock is collaged using a process I’ve returned to again and again: tea-dyed and bleached paper printed with music tabs. I love how this technique gives each guitar its own texture, history, and character, almost like a lineup of individual voices standing together.

To me, these guitar shapes represent people — our creativity, our vision, our voice — all adding to the larger story. This is one of the very last pieces from that original series. Nearly all of them have sold over the years, and collectors still ask about them.
