“I just love using art to heal and I believe it’s such a power thing!”
The women of Mending Hearts came together to paint a mural in their garden. This project created much more than a painting, it allowed the women to express their emotions to show what they are feeling without having to explain it.
Mending Hearts is a residential recovery–oriented therapeutic community for women who are or are at risk of becoming homeless as a result of their addiction to drugs, alcohol or both.
The “Expressions of a Healing Heart” mural was made possible through a grant from the Team Mica Fund and painting supplies donated by PPG Porter Paints.
The Team Mica Fund is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee that creates awareness of suicide prevention through education and restoring hope to those who suffer from mental illnesses.
News Channel 5 came by and created an amazing news story to share our project and the efforts being made to use art as a healing process.
I just love doing projects where we are bringing people together through an art experience that has a positive impact. We are truly making a difference and leaving beauty behind!
